A few companies have solved the equation. They make something very well and sell it at a fair price. That seems like it should be easy, but it’s not, or there would be more firms like Crockett & Jones. I have more Crockett & Jones shoes and boots in my collection than from any other maker. A lot of men feel that way, that’s because they sit firmly at the intersection of good design (I love their last shape—just the right rounded toe) and good value (to me, a very fair price).
