My friends at Scribner, who are publishing The Optimist, are doing a little giveaway for friends of The Contender.  

If you pre-order the book from any retailer (Bookshop, Indiebound, The Big A., etc.), you can download The Unofficial Fly Fishing Commandments. These are angling words to live by written by yours truly. They are commandments, yes, but are unofficial and not etched in stone (which is a good approach to most angling advice you receive). They include some of Derek Brahney’s great illustrations from the book. It’s should get you in spirit for opening day (which is Thursday!).  

Just order the book and fill out this form and include your receipt number (if you’ve already pre-ordered, just use your order number). Do it all before the book comes out on May 4, and you have to be from the US and Canada, for legal reasons. 

These pre-orders make a difference (welcome to the wild world of publishing!). I promise I will sign your book if we happen to run into each other on the water or at a dive bar.
